Geviti is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly in alignment with U.S. privacy and healthcare regulations. This article explains how to request account deletion, what data we delete, what we may retain (and why), and how these processes align with our policies and applicable laws. It should be read together with Geviti’s Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. For medical services delivered by independent provider groups and laboratories, their own terms and privacy notices also apply.
Understanding Protected Health Information (PHI)
Protected Health Information (PHI) refers to any health-related information that can identify you—such as lab results, consultation notes, diagnoses, treatment plans, and prescriptions—when handled by regulated entities or their business associates. Geviti’s platform supports access to care delivered by independent, licensed clinicians and third-party laboratories, meaning that related PHI may be created and stored in those systems.
What Happens When You Request Account Deletion
When you submit an account deletion request, Geviti will delete or anonymize all Geviti-controlled data unless we are legally required to retain it. This includes your Geviti account credentials, profile preferences, marketing preferences, non-essential app telemetry, non-clinical support tickets, general app session history, and payment tokens we control that are not needed for fraud or chargeback prevention. We delete as much as possible while honoring legal obligations. Apple and Google require that in-app deletion remove the account and any data we are not legally required to keep.
Data That May Be Retained and Why
Certain data cannot be deleted immediately due to legal, regulatory, security, and operational requirements. Clinical records and PHI held by providers and laboratories must be retained according to state medical record retention laws, which often require several years of storage (and longer for minors). HIPAA requires regulated entities and their business associates to keep compliance documentation—such as authorizations, Notices of Privacy Practices acknowledgments, and policies—for at least six years from creation or last effective date. Limited transaction and billing records may also be retained as required by tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or chargeback rules. In addition, data written to immutable backups or security logs may persist until those systems are cycled off according to Geviti’s retention schedules. Prescriptions and dispensing records are maintained by independent, licensed providers and U.S. pharmacies under their own legal obligations. Where feasible, retained data are segregated, access-restricted, and used only for legally required purposes such as audits or patient access requests.
Summary of Data Handling
Most account and app data—like your login, profile, and marketing preferences—can be deleted upon request. However, PHI maintained by providers or labs, HIPAA compliance records, payment and billing data, and security logs may be retained for legally mandated periods. For example, HIPAA documentation is stored for at least six years, while clinical records remain under provider or laboratory control per state law.
How to Request Account Deletion
You can initiate deletion in several ways:
In the app, go to Settings → Support → New Ticket (recommended)
On the web, sign in and select Support → New Ticket
Or visit our Contact Us page and include the subject “Delete My Account,” along with the email or phone number tied to your account
Once we receive your request, we’ll verify your identity and confirm what data will be deleted or retained. Deletion of eligible Geviti-controlled data will be processed promptly after verification. For records held by third parties—such as providers, pharmacies, or laboratories—we’ll either route your request or provide instructions to contact them directly, consistent with our Terms and Privacy Policy. If you’re requesting access to your PHI, U.S. law generally requires covered entities to respond within 30 days.
Relationship to Geviti’s Terms and Privacy Policy
Your use of Geviti is governed by our Terms & Conditions, which define membership, billing, and the scope of our services. Our Privacy Policy details the categories of data we collect, how we use and share them (including with independent providers and labs), and your available choices. Account deletion requests are honored in accordance with these policies and applicable laws, which may require retention of certain data or involve records controlled by independent medical groups and laboratories.
Regulatory and Provider Disclaimer
Lab tests are ordered solely at the discretion of licensed clinicians. If a physician decides not to order a test, the cost will be refunded. Product images are for display purposes only, and actual items dispensed from U.S.-based pharmacies may vary. The cost per month for prescription products is based on an average dosing, and your cost may differ depending on your personalized care plan. All professional medical services are provided by licensed physicians and clinicians practicing through independently owned and professionally managed medical groups. Geviti is a healthcare technology company and not a laboratory or medical provider; all laboratory and medical services are delivered by independent third-party entities.
Questions or Appeals
If you believe data were retained in error or you need copies of retained PHI, contact our Support team. For PHI managed by independent providers or laboratories, we will help direct your request to the appropriate party.
